A.P. Donovan Straight Razor Set

A straight razor alone is not quite enough. Certain equipment is also needed. At least a strop is a must. Because your straight razor should be stropped before every shave.

To assemble a straight razor set, you can simply use our configurator:

All our straight razors can also be assembled as a set. Click on the accessories shown on the right and select the products you want to add to the set.

Accessories - quickly explained

Why strop?

Before every shave, the blade should be stropped to raise the edge. A second (optional) paste strop is used for the final finish after sharpening on the stone.

Why badger hair?

Shaving brushes made of real badger hair remain unbeaten in their function. They retain water, but not too much. They produce the best foam and are also very soft.

Why double-walled?

You fill hot water into the space between the walls of a double-walled shaving bowl. The result: the lather stays warm and doesn’t collapse.

Why shaving oil?

Shaving oil is transparent. You apply it to your beard line. The result: the blade glides perfectly over the skin, the shave is more comfortable, and you can see what you’re doing.

Why sharpening stones?

Eventually the blade becomes dull and needs to be "put on the stone." Our sharpening stones have two sides and thus four different grits: 1200, 4000, 6000 & 8000 JIS.

Why care?

A carbon steel blade rusts. But care is simple: keep it dry! If it rests for more than 7 days, it should be oiled.
