How do I strop a straight razor and why?
Surely you have seen a cook sharpening his kitchen knife. He pulls the knife against the edge. He grinds off the bent burr at the tip of the blade so that the edge becomes sharp again. If the cook did the same with a straight razor blade, it would become dull immediately. Because unlike a kitchen knife, we use the burr of the edge to shave. We don't want to remove it but raise it. That's exactly what we do before every shave: we strop the straight razor and align the burr in the direction of the edge. In this video, you will learn step by step how to hang, tighten, and strop the straight razor blade.

If the blade still pulls after stropping, then we should troubleshoot and find out what you can do to make shaving comfortable again.
